Henry Domke, M.D. Im an artist who creates nature art for hospitals. By the mid-1990s, my enduring passion for art led me to formalize my art training. I studied independently with Annette Weintraub, an art professor at City College in New York, and William Hawk, a painting professor at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Another defining factor in my life is the 600-acre property that I have lived on since 1981. It is called the Prairie Garden Trust. It is a nature restoration project begun by my parents in central Missouri. Much of my art is based on images from the Prairie Garden Trust. Recently Ive been expanding beyond my backyard to find inspiration; Ive got pictures from coast-to-coast. So in addition to local wildflowers and wildlife, my collection also includes coastal landscapes, mountainous terrains, desert scenes, and sea shells. Today, my life is coming full circle; I said goodbye to medicine in 2007 and now pursue art full time. Today I try to find beauty in the ordinary and create images that inspire and heal.
