On May 14th, 2013, Angelina Jolie -- movie star, activist, icon -- announced in a NY Time op-ed article that, for fear of getting cancer, she had got a preventative double mastectomy. Citing DNA screening that, according to her doctors, makes her a likely candidate for cancer, but before showing any indication of having any illness, Jolie made a very tough choice. And she now intends to also remove her overies.
